B i o g r a p h y

As you can probably tell by the website header, I’m Sean!

I’m glad you’re reading this now. This is me, giving you my best version of myself without me actually having to talk to you.

I am a Composer, Performer, Teacher, and Event Manager. In short, a modern musician who decided to be a jack of all trades, because there is just too much to learn about music.

I have loved music all my life. From self-instruction to a college degree, my musical journey has been long, wild, and difficult.

And I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have fully embraced the work and pleasure of writing music since getting my degree in Composition from San Francisco State University. Because of my education, I have been able to apply a variety of solutions to the challenges of music making.

Arranging is a particular skill that I have found much success in. Especially as a teacher, I am able to take any song and make it playable by all of my students. Arranging also creates beautiful opportunities when in the studio. I think a lot about how to orchestrate my contributions to any record I'm working on.

I’ve also loved performing in a variety of settings. As a soloist, improvising is equally comfortable as performance by rote.

Guitar has been a home for me, but I frequently vacation amongst a variety of instruments, including some I’ve either built or bent to my will. My goal is always to make sounds that make sense of the weird and eccentric world I see around me.

As a band member, I’ve played in a variety of styles, from indie to soul and everywhere in between. I’ve learned to be a versatile performer in whatever situation I find myself in.

At the end of the day, my core belief is that music is an infinite art, and that it reflects the infinite possibilities of our collective experiences. Music helps to communicate that which is near-impossible merely by word or action. Music is a reflection of our understanding in this chaotic world.

Anyways, that’s a glimpse into what I’m about. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me in the contact section above, even if you just want to know something mundane about me (hint: I love food!).

Thanks,
